What Is an All-on-4 Implant?
All-on-4 implants are permanent dentures that look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. They’re permanently installed into your jawbone, so you do not need to worry that they’ll slip or fall out, and they require no special maintenance, adhesives, or soaking solutions. You care for All-on-4 dental implants the same as you do your natural teeth. However, if you’ve lost your teeth to decay or poor oral hygiene, you might want to adopt the regimen that’s recommended by the American Dental Association. Brush and floss at least twice daily, especially just before bedtime. Use an antibacterial mouthwash at least once daily, and schedule an annual checkup and cleaning at a minimum, twice-yearly is preferable. Use a toothbrush and toothpaste that carry the American Dental Association seal of approval, and your All-on-4 teeth should last for decades or a lifetime. Call us if you have more questions.
How Do All-on-4 Implants Work?
All-on-4 implants are four dental implants that are permanently attached by a titanium post to a denture or bridge on the upper or lower jaw. You can have them on both the upper and lower jaws if you need them. You’ll be lightly sedated for the procedure, and your dentist will surgically insert four titanium posts into your jawbone. Two will be in the front of the jawbone, and two will be in the rear. The rear posts are tilted at an angle so that they’re more secure. This also eliminates the need for a bone graft in the majority of cases.
Titanium is used for the posts because it’s readily absorbed into the bone through a process known as osseointegration. During the healing process, you’ll receive a temporary denture to wear until your incision sites have fully healed, which may take a couple of months. After they have completely healed, you’ll return to our McLean office to have your custom-fitted denture installed. The lab will match it to the shade and shape of your natural teeth, so no one needs to know that you’re wearing dentures. Call our McLean office if you’d like to make an appointment.
Some patients are good candidates for implants in a day. If you’re interested in getting the All-on-4 implants in a day, call our office, and we’ll answer all your questions.
What Happens Before and After the Procedure?
Before your procedure, your dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth and jaw to ensure that you’re a good candidate for the All-on-4 procedure. If you need additional dental procedures, they’ll be completed before we start the All-on-4 denture procedure.
Next, we’ll install your posts, and you’ll be provided care instructions for your jaw and gums during the healing process. It’s vital that you follow these instructions carefully so that you don’t develop an infection. After you have your implants, be sure to maintain a good oral hygiene regimen as outlined by the American Dental Association. If you have questions about the All-on-4 before and after procedure, call our McLean office.
How Much Is the All-on-4 Procedure?
Your cost for All-on-4 dental implants in McLean will be unique to you. It will depend on your unique circumstances, any additional treatments you need, and your insurance coverage. However, the All-on-4 procedure costs less than traditional implants because fewer implants are needed, and overall, the procedure is less invasive. For more information on the All-on-4 dental implants cost, call our McLean office, and we’ll answer all of your questions.
What Is the Difference Between All-on-4 and Traditional Implants?
The All-on-4 system requires fewer implants and seldom requires a bone graft. This shortens the overall treatment time and makes the treatment much less invasive. Call our McLean office for more information on All-on-4 implants.
How Do All-on-4 and Traditional Dentures Differ?
Unlike traditional dentures that rest atop your gums and are secured only by adhesive, the All-on-4 dentures are securely attached to posts in your jawbone. All-on-4 implants also help retain the structural integrity of your jaw, which traditional dentures don’t.
